2010: combibloc EcoPlus with clear environmental advantages In July 2010 ifeu institute has finished a life cycle assessment for combibloc EcoPlus on the order of SIG Combibloc with focus on EU 15 countries plus Switzerland. The LCA study shows that a special new composition including a higher content of the renewable resource wood in the EcoPlus aseptic carton pack leads to 28 per cent less CO2 emissions in comparison to a SIG Combibloc carton pack of the same format. This result is related to the life cycle steps from production of raw materials to the finished carton pack. Furthermore the FSC label on the EcoPlus carton packs of launch customer MUH prove that only wood fibres from FSC certified forests and other controlled sources are used to manufacture this aseptic carton pack.
