We never stop learning

In order to strengthen our innovation potential and cope with market developments and customer demands, it‘s vital that we always are at the cutting edge of science. We have been fostering and facilitating dialogue and knowledge transfer among research, teaching and practice for many years, by working closely with universities, specialist schools of applied sciences, institutes and higher services providers. We also see in these partnerships a key factor for securing our own future, in terms of bringing in new academic talent.

Endowed Chair in ‘Filling Technology’
By sponsoring this endowed chair, SIG Combibloc aims to make an innovative contribution not only to practice-based teaching and research, but also to effectively nurturing and developing the next generation of talent. The accredited Bachelor’s degree programme ‘Food Packaging Technology’ started in 2007/2008 (Faculty II, Mechanical and Biochemical Engineering) at the University of Applied Science in Hannover , Germany. SIG Combibloc is sponsoring the chair in ‘Filling Technology’ to the tune of 100,000 Euro per annum.

Furthermore, the purpose of our partnerships with universities and other academic institutes is the promotion of professional symposia and conferences, supervision of student theses, practice-related lectures at universities and colleges as well as plant tours. As a member of the industry advisory board of the Beuth University for Engineering in Berlin, we are on hand to assist the university in particular on questions relating to the practial applicability of the education it offers.

Practice-based partnerships with universities and colleges enable us to drive forward product innovations and to incorporate scientific findings into our corporate governance practices. Therefore we have been working closely for more than a year with, among others, the highly regarded Institute for Business Management of the University of Karlsruhe , which has its main research focus in the areas of strategic and corporate management, strategic business wargaming, organisational management and corporate governance.
