Less CO2

The key environmental benefit of combibloc EcoPlus, the 28 per cent reduction in CO2, has been proven in a recent, ISO-compliant lifecycle assessment conducted by the renowned, independent Institut für Energie- und Umweltforschung (IFEU/Institute for Energy and Environmental Research).

The lifecycle assessment, which looks at the EU-15 countries plus Switzerland and is therefore valid for these countries, puts the combiblocSlimline 1,000 ml format under the microscope. The study made a detailed examination of all key factors and processes of environmental relevance that come into play throughout the lifecycle of the packaging. The objective was to analyse and evaluate the environmental impacts of combibloc EcoPlus when compared against a conventional carton pack from SIG Combibloc of the same format.

The study concluded that in the comparison of the two carton types – beginning with the acquisition and processing of the raw materials and including the manufacture of the packaging, right up to the final manufactured carton sleeves leaving the production plants – combibloc EcoPlus generated 28 per cent less CO2.
